San Rocco in Aurisina: four days of celebration just a stone's throw from Portopiccolo
From 14 to 17 August, less than ten minutes’ drive from Portopiccolo, Aurisina celebrates its patron saint, San Rocco, with a packed calendar of events combining tradition, music, sport and gastronomy. The central square, renovated and reopened in March, will be the heart of a festival that offers something different every day.
Thursday 14 August
- 8 p.m. – Official opening and presentation fo municipal honours (8 individual and 1 collective).
- 8:30 p.m. – Ano urco al pej dvej concert in the square.
Friday 15 August
- From the morning – Stands of local producers and Ilirska Bistrica.
- 7 p.m. – Presentation Radost v travi by Marja Novak Vogrič (Rectory Garden).
- 20:30 – Gas Kras Concert (in Sokol field).
Saturday 16 August
- 09:00 a.m. – Beach volleyball tournament (Sokol court).
- 11:00 a.m. – Solemn mass in the square.
- 12:00 a.m. – Guided tour of Rimad’Origine (House of Stone).
- 5:00 p.m. – Children’s workshop on bees + flea market in the square.
- 6:00 p.m. – Meeting on beekeeping.
- 7:30 p.m. – Dialogue between Dušan Jelinčič and Pietro Spirito on È notte sul confine (It’s night on the border).
- 8:30 p.m. – Concert by Rujni muzikanti.
Sunday 17 August
- 09:30 – Mass and procession.
- 11:00 – Guided tour of Rimad’Origine.
- 8:30 p.m. – Concert by Kraški muzikanti.
Throughout the event, visitors will be able to view a photographic exhibition celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Igo Gruden Slovenian Cultural Association.
